Rise Above Adversity

The word adversity is a noun that has so many meanings and interpretations; different for everyone. It relates to misfortune, difficulty, or tribulation. It also can mean disaster or suffering, even grief; just to mention some. There is no way to measure the magnitude or intensity of adversity as it comes to each and every one of us sometime during our life here on earth. Know that sometimes bad things happen to good people. It’s part of life.

There are situations that happen to us, and don’t always happen for the best, but they do happen for a reason. It’s been said that “there are times when things must go wrong so that they can go right.” And although the reason may not be apparent right away, be aware and alert. You must give yourself permission to be human; as you acknowledge and accept what has comes your way. It’s your courage and strength that will help you to endure each struggle or challenge. And it’s with your internal resources that you learn to rise above it all.

Although adversity brings about fear and anxiety, not to mention many other emotions; it’s determination, resilience and persistence that will help you most through these difficult times. You must, however; not allow these negative feelings of despair to take over and empower your mind. Look beyond each situation and ask yourself… “How can I make it better?” Choose to choose and focus on what you “can” do.

Each adversity; while it may challenge you; is a life lesson. Each situation that you are confronted with will build character, and make you wiser and stronger than ever before. It will help to shape who you are as a person. Accept this change as it comes about because through adversity comes greatness.

Your inner strength, grace, and wisdom, will help you maintain your dignity and integrity through each adversity, by doing the right thing and making the right choices. Have faith that in time, the pain or hurt will fade. Have the wisdom to know the lessons will remain forever.

“The harder you fall, the heavier your heart; the heavier your heart, the stronger you climb; the stronger you climb, the higher your pedestal.”
