Your Success

We all strive to be successful in our life, but at what cost? There comes a time when you need to define “your success” and it is different for everyone. How are you going to get there? Will you know when you reach the top? How will you feel? So many questions, and yet there is so much to do to achieve your goals.

You may be putting in 15 hour work days, and getting very little sleep. Now ask yourself, out of those 15 hours, how may were truly productive? It’s so easy to get lost with the ideology of being successful, that you can lose sight of how you’re going to get there. You may be wrapped up with so many daily responsibilities, projects and tasks. Here are some ways for you to be mindful and to help you reach your fullest potential.

First, when you have had a good night sleep and you are fully rested, there is an increase in your productivity. Everything you do, you’ll do better. You will find yourself with a higher energy level and that will affect your thought process. Your ideas and emotions that you carry will so often determine the quality of your work day. Make sure you “disconnect”. Did you know that on average a person checks their smart devices 150 times a day? Learn to turn it off, especially while you are sleeping.

Prioritize, Energize, and Recharge! This may sound silly, and you may say you don’t have the time, but allow yourself during your work day to take a “time out to breathe”. Maybe it’s only a ten minute break, but it will allow you to reboot your brain. That’s called a “mindful rest”  I believe it is one of the most difficult things for all of us to do. It’s so important to take a step back for a moment and find stillness.

Make sure that you are doing what works for you. Drop any projects or tasks that may be interfering with your ultimate goals. Those that are irrelevant are called “Grudge Projects” If you cannot realistically complete the project, it’s not going to do you any good to hold on to it. It will only create additional stress or worry. Worrying about something that cannot be done is a waste of your time and energy. That is a part of prioritizing. It also gives you some space.

Remember that there is no such thing as failure. It’s only a stepping stone for success. You develop success from your failures. Make sure you are living your dreams, and not someone else’s.

A perfect quote by Rumi “Live your life as if it were rigged in your favor”
